The pathway to from Watercolour 1 to Open Studio:
WATERCOLOUR 1
In this class you’ll learn the process of creating a watercolour painting, explore the use of the watercolour palette including which brushes, how much water and what washes to start with, as well as learning new techniques using other mediums. Suitable for complete beginners.
WATERCOLOUR 2Suitable for students who have completed Watercolour 1.This level builds on the foundational skills introduced in Watercolour 1. While the structure of the class is similar, the exercises become more advanced and focus on extending your technique and confidence.Students begin exploring colour theory and composition, while continuing to develop brush control, layering, and observational skills through new projects.
WATERCOLOUR 3Suitable for students who have completed Watercolour 1 and 2.This level prepares students for the Open Studio class, where you will begin developing and working on your own ideas and projects.Exercises focus on expanding your technical abilities further, including more advanced colour theory, composition, and more complex layering techniques. The aim is to build the skills and confidence needed to move into independent studio practice.
Note:If you’d like to proceed with Watercolour 2 or 3, please enrol in Watercolour 1 – they’re run at the same time in the same class, but are divided into small groups.
This creates a supportive learning environment where newer students can see what is possible as skills develop, while more experienced students are reminded of the importance of strong foundational techniques.
