2027 Open Studio – Ceramics Year-Long Program
Unlike our dedicated skill-based Wheel Throwing and Handbuilding classes, the Open Studio – Ceramics course offers a flexible structure that encourages individual investigations and practice-led exploration, supported by a mentor who helps you find your artistic voice and develop your practice.
This class is designed to guide you in shaping personal project plans, refining concepts, and experimenting with materials and techniques. The focus is on independent development, with periodic group sessions where students share outcomes, discuss challenges, and exchange ideas. This collaborative environment enriches the program and helps push everyone’s work forward.
Each student’s unique approach contributes to the collective learning experience, cultivating a dynamic and supportive cohort. The class is driven by experimentation and often guided by students’ questions and interests. While there is ample room for self-directed inquiry, group discussions and feedback remain integral to advancing each student’s practice. Unlike a structured, teacher-led class, Open Studio encourages students to take the lead in shaping both their work and their learning journey.
