Drawing from masterworks is a powerful way to strengthen your observational skills and deepen your understanding of how artworks are constructed.
In this practical one day workshop, artist Fran O’Neill brings our popular online Transcribing the Masters program into the studio. Fran will introduce a carefully selected range of masterworks and guide you through the process of closely studying and transcribing them through drawing.
You will investigate the underlying elements that give an artwork its structure and energy, including composition, geometry, rhythm, form, spatial relationships and mark-making. Through a series of guided drawing exercises, you will develop a deeper understanding of the visual decisions made by each artist and how these choices shape the finished work.
This workshop offers an opportunity to slow down, look carefully and learn through the act of drawing. You will leave with new ways of analysing artworks and practical insights that can be carried into your own creative practice.
