Join Melbourne potter Sophie Moran as she explores the cultural and historic diversity of lidded pottery forms. This immersive two-day workshop will delve into various styles of containment, dissecting function and developing techniques to craft lidded vessels on the potter’s wheel.
Sophie will discuss her creative process, explain how she uses research and source material to find inspiration, and raw materials and design principles to develop her personal voice.
Techniques in throwing and trimming a variety of lidded pots will be discussed and demonstrated in depth.
This is a hand-on workshop, giving participants the opportunity to put the information into practice immediately, throwing forms on the first day and turning them the next.
This workshop is suitable for potters with throwing experience. Clay provided, feel free to bring your favourite tools if preferred.
