Suitable for beginners to experienced

EXPLORING PRINTMAKING is a versatile class tailored for both beginners and those seeking to deepen their printmaking skills.

Led by experienced artist Marieke Dench, beginners will participate in structured relief print exercises, plus intaglio teachings and exercises, laying the groundwork for ongoing development in subsequent terms. The class is equally valuable for returning participants, encouraging them to revisit techniques or pursue self-directed projects with optional mentoring from Marieke.

Covering essential aspects such as materials, press usage, and foundational techniques, the class provides a robust framework for artistic growth and development. While accessible for a single term, the course design promotes continuous learning, supporting students with the specialised equipment required for printmaking. All reasonable necessary materials are supplied, including a set paper limit per student. Additional paper and materials are available for purchase beyond this limit.

Aligned with the values of The Art Room, the class prioritises nurturing each participant’s distinct artistic voice. Students will develop additional technical skills but also be actively encouraged to nurture their artistic identity within the wonderfully versatile medium of printmaking.
